Explore Local History and Art in One Stop

Located on the Ozark Square, the Christian County Museum and Finley River Art Gallery share a space inside the historic Ozark Community Building. Constructed in 1934 through New Deal relief funding and community labor, this native-stone landmark has served Ozark for generations. Today, it offers a unique blend of local history and creative expression, making it a meaningful stop while exploring downtown.

Christian County Museum

Step inside a building that has been part of Ozark’s story for more than 90 years. Originally built as a community gathering space during the Great Depression, the structure later housed a garment factory that employed hundreds of local residents before returning to community use.

The museum now features a thoughtfully reorganized layout designed to help visitors better explore the story of Christian County. Exhibits highlight early industry, education, the Great Depression, local law enforcement, and notable figures who helped shape the Ozarks. Many longtime artifacts remain on display, now presented in ways that create a more connected and engaging visitor experience.

Knowledgeable volunteers are often available to share stories and answer questions, and admission is free, making this an accessible stop for both locals and visitors.

Finley River Art Gallery

Right next door, the Finley River Art Gallery showcases artwork from talented Southwest Missouri artists. Visitors can browse and purchase local art in a variety of styles and mediums. The gallery also offers seasonal art classes like watercolor, basket coiling, and palette knife painting, giving you the chance to create your own masterpiece.
